Terms of use and donation terms
How this website may be used, how donations and payments work, and how to contact us about either.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of www.charityhand.org and to donations made through the website. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
The site is operated by CharityHand, Office 12, Wellington House, 85 King Street, Manchester, M2 4WQ, United Kingdom.
2. Donations and payments
Donations are completed on the Charity Hand payment page hosted by Jjuma Global at pay.jjuma.com. Card and mobile money details are entered on that payment page and are never entered on, processed by, or stored by this website.
Nothing is charged until the payment provider confirms the transaction. A donation is only complete once you receive a confirmation from the payment provider.
Monthly gifts continue until you cancel them. You can change or cancel a monthly gift at any time by emailing info@charityhand.org.
Donations are applied to the programme area you select where one is chosen, and to general programme work otherwise. Where a programme area is already fully funded, or where circumstances make the work unsafe or impossible to deliver, funds may be applied to the most closely related programme need.
Refunds: if you believe a donation was made in error or an incorrect amount was taken, contact info@charityhand.org with the date, amount and payment reference. Requests are reviewed individually and, where a refund is due, processed through the original payment method.
Receipts: a payment confirmation is issued by the payment provider to the email address you supply. Additional receipt confirmations can be requested from the thank-you page or by email.
3. Tax treatment of donations
Tax relief on charitable donations depends on your country of residence and on the organisation's registration status in that country. Do not treat anything on this site as tax advice.
Requires NGO confirmation: Charity/NGO registration details and any Gift Aid or tax-deductibility position must be supplied and verified by CharityHand before any tax claim appears on this page.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site to submit false or misleading information, to attempt unauthorised access to systems or data, to interfere with the site's operation, to send automated or bulk submissions through its forms, or to use its content for unlawful purposes.
Form submissions, including volunteer, partnership, newsletter and enquiry forms, must contain your own accurate details and must not include the personal data of third parties without their permission.
5. Volunteering, partnership and other enquiries
Submitting a volunteer, partnership, sponsorship or general enquiry form does not create a volunteer role, agreement, contract or partnership. All roles and partnerships are subject to CharityHand's selection, safeguarding and due-diligence processes and to a separate written agreement where applicable.
6. Content, images and intellectual property
Text, layout, logos and design on this site belong to CharityHand or its licensors and may not be reproduced for commercial use without permission. You may share and link to pages for non-commercial purposes with attribution.
Some photographs on this site are licensed documentary or illustrative images used to show the type of work described. Where an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of a CharityHand project, activity, beneficiary, volunteer or staff member, the surrounding page states this. Photographs of identifiable people are used only with appropriate consent and in line with our safeguarding and privacy commitments.
7. Accuracy and third-party links
We aim to keep information on this site accurate and current. Some programme, impact and project information is marked as awaiting organisational confirmation and should not be relied on as verified fact until confirmed.
The site links to third-party services, including the Jjuma Global payment page and social media platforms. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
8. Privacy
Personal data submitted through this site is handled as described in our privacy policy, which explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights, including under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
9. Liability
The site is provided on an "as is" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site, or for interruptions caused by factors outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the organisation, its services or applicable law change. The version published on this page applies to your use of the site.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
Questions about these terms: info@charityhand.org or +44 7412 808369. Postal address: Office 12, Wellington House, 85 King Street, Manchester, M2 4WQ, United Kingdom.
